I can assure you that I am a living, breathing, flesh and blood, human being—I just can’t draw to save my life. So, I’ve enlisted AI as my personal Picasso. The AI images are just fancy hats for my words.
Thank you for including me and for putting this all together! My work is indeed definitely human-written. (And I even hired a human artist to create the "Terrific" title images.)
Thanks again for listing this teller, though for next time, you can leave out (dhw), as lovely as the computer generated image of Kayt Syth was, it has been retired. Instead is a sculpted... well you can sort of make out what it is. It spoils the fun to explicitly explain the sculpture.
If this teller decides to use generated images again, he'll be sure to inform you.
A reminder to anyone who glances at this, Morning Menagerie will be Halloween themed throughout October, and a themed Advent calendar of sorts for December.
Sounds great. Looking forward to those themed characters. The (dhw) is good to have, though. It means 'Definitely Human Written', and indicates that you're not using AI assistance to write the words... 😎
Sharpen that quill pen. Get out that bottle of blood-red ink (that is ink, right? yes?). And turn down the lights. Set the mood for some scary writing!
Thank you for including me. It is great that Substack is growing but it makes finding good writing hard. I hate to add to your already huge workload, but perhaps you could sort them into categories, using more options than Substack provides?
I've been thinking that very thing. But to break the list down into categories, I would need everyone to tell me where they want to be listed. I might do that on next week's post. How would you categorize your writing?
Ah, yes, be careful what you write because you may have to stand by it! How would I categorise my writing? My category would probably be ‘Memoir Writing’.
@Barbara Tien is part of a group of family historians and genealogists who are lobbying Substack to add ‘Genealogy’ to their list of categories. My writing is more about encouraging people to write memoirs for future genealogists.
Yeah, I write non-fiction and fiction, several genres as well as literary fiction. Tough to categorize people. I can make a note on my list that you encourage people to write memoirs, if you want. Easy to do.
Noted. And I’m thinking about how to approach including categories. In the next list, I could ask people to say what theirs is and see how many people respond. Hmm… Other ideas?
I think asking people who you link to in your posts to tell you their ideal category is a great idea. You could later combine some if they become divided into too small segments. It’s a good way of also checking who is ‘real’.
Thanks!! I hope some people make it to the bottom of the list. Second guessing my pen name now 😂
Your comment was the first though, and I’ll be working my way up through the new to me writers on the weekend.
Thanks for including me in the list!

Fancy hats — love that! But thanks for keeping the words real!

Great to know. I’m an artist as well as a writer. So hearing this makes me happy. Have noted on my list.
Here’s my story! It’s at the bottom of the list in case you don’t make it that far 😁

Yeah, that’s the problem with alphabetized lists.

Somehow, the designation got a little tangled in this teller's memory.
Thanks for including me! Post is saved, this is a great list!!
Thank you for the shoutout.
Thank you so much for the shout out! What a fab list of fellow writers. You can mark my writing and art as human made & human written. :-)
Team Halloween! Woot. Well, I better get something done before Witching Hour is upon us!

Thanks for putting this together! Can't wait to connect with everyone!

That would be great, thank you. It is hard to categorise people, but it would make it easier to find writers.

Wow! This is quite the growing list you've got here. Thanks for including me on Team Halloween!
Had to include you, otherwise you woulda put a hex on me or something. Hee!
This is an incredible list. Thanks for putting it together. I'm dhw!
Thanks! And have noted you as dhw on my list. So sad that AI is spreading so fast. Grammarly is now using an AI text generator. Sigh.
Thank you for the honorable mention and the TH designation!
Thanks so much for mentioning and tagging me 😊
Thanks for the TH! What's the next step?
Write something befitting the scary season and post on your ‘Stack. Share it in a Note and tag me. I’ll spread the word! Bwahaha!
