Sure, January 1st is just a date on a calendar. But somehow it makes us feel all new—a new beginning. For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, it’s also a time of winter and cold and gray skies unless you live in the sunnier regions such as Italy or the American southwest. No matter the weather, it’s a time of renewal, setting goals, and really, really, really meaning to see them through.
My goals for 2025:
Focus on the Freelan novel series, especially the newly written prequel The Journey of Peter Thorn and query the heck out of it to every publisher I can think of until someone is smart enough to see how great it is (no sense in any of us being modest about our work; if we don’t believe in it, how will a publisher?). Sadly, it’s over 114,000 words, way past my current publisher’s word limit of 70,000.
Continue the Readers/Writers list updates on a bi-monthly basis (or more, depending on the number of updates). We gotta promote each other. So what if we’re primarily reaching other writers? It’s still another pair of eyes. The more, the merrier. And re-stacking/sharing the list helps you as well as others.
Polish up more manuscripts of short stories and even novels (other than the Freelan series books, which are too long) to send to my current publisher.
Seek out more ways to promote my work online as well as opportunities in person. And if I find something really good, I’ll pass it along here.
Here’s hoping your goals are even more ambitious and yet realistic. Let’s all make 2025 a banner year for authors!
Oh, and a few posts to enjoy:
continues to triumph over adversity: presents a fictional New Year’s celebration: present an end-of-year roundup: posts a look back and then ahead: shows the power of writing here:And yes, I want to bring my books (so far) to your attention. Hope you don’t mind.
My four books (so far) from Wordwooze Publishing:
NEW! The Greeting Card Girl’s Christmas – a sweet romance novel for the holiday season.
Wind Down the Chimney and Other Eerie Tales – my first book of eerie short stories (ebook, paperback, audio).
The Stardust Alliance and More – my second book of eerie stories with a touch of Sci-Fi (ebook, paperback, audio).
The Wiccan Tales – a novel and a real Halloween treat.
(All human written. I even designed the covers.)
See them all here:
Goodreads | Amazon | Barnes & Noble | Apple Books | Kobo | Thalia (German) ebook & print | Smashwords | Angus & Robertson: | Mondadori (Italian) | Vivlio (French/English) | Fable
Audio versions available for Wind Down the Chimney, The Stardust Alliance, and The Wiccan Tales.
I like the idea of setting goals, and I'm often pleasantly surprised to find that I've accomplished many of them when I look back at that list. Good luck with your 2025 goals! Happy New Year,
A.C., good luck with finding a publisher. Never give up. Jack London was rejected over 600 times, but persevered. Madleine L'Engle (A Wrinkle in Time) also suffered dozens of rejections. I love the gray days of winter (so cozy for writing) and i wish you all the luck the New Year can bring.
