A request:
Liking and reposting this article would be greatly appreciated and would help spread the word about the authors above as well as my writings. Thanks for your time.
Some important information:
Autumnal Equinox is a few days away (September 21st) for us in the northern hemisphere (I’ll let the rest of you adjust according to your location). And this is the last Summer Scare post.
It is also the start of some changes here:
First change—
Instead of a weekly list linking to stories, next week, I will post a list (actually, the list will be split into the comments) of the Team Halloween to give you a run-up to Halloween. ALL the writers on that team have told me they don’t use AI in any way for their writing. Some of them have published their stuff in books instead of on here.
The change has to do with the way Substack has messed up tagging. This post has too many, so if you see it, please restack for other lovers of the scary. Thanks.
Also, I need to spend more time on very necessary editing of that mass of writing I started in January 2019 (the Freelan series). The first book (written after I had written most of that series) is close to being ready to publish. Big push on here for that. And since I will probably need to self-publish (the content isn’t something the traditional publishing world would welcome), my time will need to be focused there. (Great progress made over past couple weeks so far.)
Second change—
As time allows, I will be posting more articles as well as updates on my writing progress. Hopefully, they will be worthy of a few minutes of your time. More details on this coming.
First, a few folks to note:
Haunts You Later (a lifelong horror obsessive): horror movie reviews.
Brian Schell and team: Horror Weekly.
Emerald City Ghosts periodically calls for submissions, so subscribe and follow.
DW Dixon ⚙️⚙️ : list of mystery writers every Monday.
E. D. Jones : open for submissions for Write Sinister.
Newton Webb : new book of macabre tales.
On to the some fiction:
Boowahaha! Quite a Bunch (in no particular order):
Grace Anderson-Author : The Revenge of Slain Beasts, The Woman in the Veil
Jennifer Morrow : Meet Your Gourd & Get Iffy Advice
J. Michael Thomas : Dystopian Journal - Entry 9
Jenna B. Neece : Support the author by buying a copy of one or both of these—
The Keeper of The Whispering Cup and Quill - Available from Amazon and her website.
Tethered by Shadows - Available from Amazon and her website.
Darby Jones : A Funny Marriage Nightmare Story
R. M. Greta : Blue Chicks II, Free-Range, Midweek (Micro) Release: Haunting
Colin Devonshire : Marked, School’s Out
C. Lee McKenzie : Just Deserts
(Has a book coming out that sounds like a real chiller thriller. Watch for her announcement.)
Mata Haggis-Burridge : Disco horror: When Every Man Disappeared
S.L. Stallings : Good Morning, The Antique Trading Post
Saint-Lazare (the literally bare bones writer): 13 Canal Street – Part 4
These should keep your thirst for the scary sated until the next update. (If I’ve missed anything from the past week, please let me know and I’ll get it next time.)

Thanks for putting all this together! It's a really great project, and it's such a shame it got a little spoilt by the ongoing Tagging issues. But... Your idea about putting the Tags in the Comments of the Team Halloween Posts sounds fantastic. I've been trying to figure out how to do it on Notes for the 'House of Haiku', without people thinking the Event has moved to Notes! Haha! Tagging in the Comments would be an amazing way to make sure people get directed straight to the Post. I really hope it works... 😎👍
