OctoBOO Continues with Team Halloween
A few items from fellow Substackers to set the mood!
If anyone doesn’t wish to be tagged here, please let me know. The tagging is meant to help writers be seen, not annoy them.
I Couldn’t Wait Until October 31st
My plan to wait until October 31st to post a roundup of your chilling, thrilling stories and other Halloweenish posts has crashed and burned. Why? Because I can’t wait! Too much good stuff already popping up.
Tales From the Underworld , a team of historic true crime researchers and writers, has announced they will be posting a series of “Spooky Season” stories. (Some AI images but all human written text.)
Jennifer Morrow posts (for paid subscribers) some great advice and some rather—uh, well, let’s just say “very seasonal” pumpkin carving images by Ray Villafane. See it here:
Jessica Maison reveals the cover art for the second hardcover graphic novel in the Mary Shelley’s School for Monsters series - THE KILLING STONE. The book launched today (8 Oct 2024) Take a peek here:
Lauren Salas ratchets up the old concept that something that is part of our nature can be cured, in this case having to do with vampires. Read it here:
Miguel S. has prompted some rather spooky micro-fiction and pulled it together here:
V Kelly-Sibley a story that will make you shudder! Read it here:
Charlotte Pendragon brings us another entry in The Charlotte Pendragon Diaries. Read it here:
H. R. Sinclair takes you Down the Rabbit Hole with a series of spooky tales from previous years:
Caro Henry brings a chill to the air with this poem:
The Brothers Krynn , a true treasure here on Substack, sinks his teeth into the whole Dracula phenomenon with this insightful essay:
And as if that weren’t enough, last year about this time, Jeremy Anderberg listed classic Halloween Short Stuff. Check them out here:
Did I miss anyone’s Halloween stuff? Please let me know in a comment.
On a more serious note
Some people are facing the horror of Hurricane Helene with Hurricane Milton is bearing down on already impacted people in Florida. Plus here on Substack several people I follow or subscribe to are facing their own horror.
Honeygloom , bringer of the Horror Haiku Club Prompts, is facing a rent increase she can’t afford. Please check out her Substack and visit her Etsy shop (I couldn’t find a link, sorry).
Jeremy Anderberg is now job hunting (publishing, editing, writing, etc.) and keeping up his Substack Read More Books. See more here:
Jenna B. Neece is dealing with health issues but soldiering on with big plans for her Substack, combining her author page with her podcast which is growing in popularity. See more about that here:
