That's certainly very alarming. And these days, when it's so easy to get a book released quickly, it's very possible a work in progress like that, or elements of it, could end up being published by some other means before you get a chance to do it yourself, once it's in the system and being used to generate things... 😎

That’s exactly what I fear could happen to a lot of authors out there. Thus my post. Beware, folks!

Google is denying using scanned email contents to train its AI, saying instead they use it to sort into primary vs. promotions, but of course, that's what Google is claiming, so who knows.

I would believe Google just as I would believe a guy with cherry pie smeared all over his face saying he had no idea where my missing cherry pie went. A few things I’ve learned about the company over the years: Google’s TOS means nothing, nor do they have any regard for our individual/property rights. They were sued years ago for trying to digitize every book on the planet. They send their Google cars around taking pictures of us and our houses without permission or compensation (they were sued over this, too). They have satellites that show people where the swimming pools are so they can crash in (numerous stories have popped up about that). They actively squash voices they don’t like, demonetizing people on YouTube and Blogger. This latest action is a logical next step. Sadly, people who use Gmail but through their own domain name get through my block. So I have to identify such domains and block them. What a mess to protect our work as authors. So sad. And don’t get me started on the stories I’ve heard about copyright infringement in India and China. Sigh. Well, have a great Thanksgiving!

It's hard to decide which dragon to slay first! AI...Google...Other online pirates?

Google grabbed all that content for their AI system (Gemini), so I think Google is first.
