A few words...
I wanted to let the emotional furor out there settle down a little before writing this.
As a staunch supporter of individual rights, most importantly the right to our own lives, I am saddened by recent events but also that after twenty-four years New York City is sliding into a morass. The tendency toward violence against those who disagree with us and away from civil discourse is troubling at the very least.
Our lives go on, though. I encourage you to see these incidents as a way to learn to be more civil with each other, including on social media where every day at any hour feelings run high.
