Cover Reveal for My New Book of Paranormal Mysteries
More stuff cranked out of my brain, absolutely NO AI-generated content
When this whole switch from non-fiction writing to fiction came about in my life, it wasn’t quite an abrupt change. It was more gradual, sort of like blacksmiths switching their focus from making horseshoes to wrought iron fences and other work or even learning how to work on those newfangled “horseless carriages.” Little by little, I have left most of my non-fiction writing behind and am now doing about 90% fiction, in part because the ideas keep coming and I don’t want my brain to overload and explode.
And that is due to many of you out there who inspire me.
Some of that inspiration comes M.E. Proctor, a mystery writer. I am a big fan of murder mysteries, including Agatha Christie, Arthur Conan Doyle, P.D. James, and a host of others such as Ms. Proctor. And the thing that has always come to mind when reading their work is, “How the heck do they think those things up?” Well, now I know. The key word is “think.” So I thought and thought and came up with some stories with mysterious elements, published in my first book Wind Down the Chimney and Other Eerie Tales as well as my second book The Stardust Alliance and More. But they weren’t really mysteries. So I tried again, playing off a couple characters introduced a story in that second book.
Zachariah Fontaine is a private investigator in the Washington, DC, area (where I lived for several years). Most of his cases are fairly mundane, but after meeting the luscious Jessica Cushing who is seeking a divorce, his cases become a bit more odd. Not all, fortunately. This new book skips the mundane and presents five of those odd cases. And they deserved a very special cover.
After consulting with my dearest hubby, who is also my reader and editor, assuring that what I send to the publisher doesn’t have glaring and embarrassing faux pas, I came up with a design that satisfied me and garnered a cheer from him.
Here It Is…
Created by me. No AI involved. I find images online and work with them in Adobe Photoshop Elements 3 on a computer that isn’t even connected to the internet. The mermaid, the large ruby hanging from a gold chain, the eye staring into your soul. And the silhouettes of that sleuthing team in the foreground. Enticing?
The book will be published soon (a week or so) in ebook and print-on-demand. Audio will take more time. Hope you’ll be watching for it.
Final Note
A current scam being run on Twitter/X by book marketers is copying and pasting your book blurb into a tweet, presenting it as his/her own writing, and then sending you a direct message to sign up for their promotion services. I have started blocking such people.
Please check out my author website for more information about me and my writing. And thanks for reading.

I use GIMP because it's free. I'm sure PhotoShop is better, but I like open-source programs.
