I have been scouring Substack for additions to the list! I have also come across more ways to be seen. Check ’em all out below.
If you know of anyone I should add, please comment below. Help spread the word!
NOTE: I cannot guarantee that people listed here do NOT use AI in some way (images and/or text) but I do my best. I have confirmed some. They are marked “dhw.” The worst part of using AI is when the user does not reveal this to the audience. Writing and creating visuals is a very human skill. Some of us have worked long and hard to develop ours. Many of you are working on that now. The fakers drag us all down.
dhw=definitely human written although some may use the AI image generator or an AI writing checker
More Ways to Be Seen!
The more ways for us writers to be seen, the better! My little list is just one small way. Here are some others so far:
The Library, curated by
and @J.M. Elliott. Promotes writers on Substack and also those who are published. How to Submit. Also check out their Buy Indie page. Browse the Stacks by category.Top in Fiction, run by
.Post Op and Literary Salon, started and run by
. Go to his Chat for more info and also look for his Notes and Posts.Freebookstore, started and run by Thaddeus Thomas. You need a Bookfunnel account, which costs money. Contact Thaddeus for details. And it means you offer free copies of your books to people, which is a strategy used by authors who write book series.
The Tall Tales Fiction Critique Community, started and run by
.Auraist, started and run by
. Highlights books for your perusal. I still haven’t had time to give them a thorough examination (some stuff is behind a paywall). Check them out and let me know what you think. You also might follow , which is affiliated with them in some way. Haven’t figured things out there yet.The Booster Club, started and run by
. Read this post to see what they are about.
How to support other writers here:

Publisher Spotlight
Your opportunities to get your work published are evolving. One of the latest is right on Substack, where people like these are seeking out your works and either presenting them in print or online (or both in some cases).

My list of people who enjoy reading your writing is beginning to take shape. Here is what I have so far:

And if you like discussing what you read, check out
.Mystery lovers, I found a great site that posts book reviews (and welcomes your guest posts) as well as info on new mystery books soon to be released, such as one by
(her book launched yesterday!). The site isn’t on Substack, but heck, same goes for a lot of stuff. Check it out: Dru’s Musings.Genre (Theme) Days
See my article: Publisher Agent Fiction Genres Defined, with downloadable PDF.
Fiction is divided into two main categories, or so I have seen on various sites that present themselves as authorities on the subject:
Genre (mystery, romance, sci-fi, drama, horror, historical, etc.)
Literary (usually anything that’s not of a specific genre and often considered to be more focused on ideas that plot, characters, etc., but I beg to differ)
These genre days are great opportunities to showcase your work and are also inspirational!
Here’s a list, showing the “host(s)” who often do a summary of the posts:
Funny Sun(ny)day – started by Addam Ledamyen who writes humor. No summary.
Macabre Monday – now hosted by
, , , , and started byTeaser Tuesday – started by
(knightsofautumncrown)Terran Tuesday – hosted by
, ,Warrior Wednesday – hosted by
Readers/Writers Wednesday – I do this post, others welcome to post their own lists; the more, the merrier
Throwback Thursday – hosted and created by
Thorny Thursday – hosted by Kathrine Elaine (summary done mid-month)
Sci-Friday – host unknown, started by
(aka Goatfury)Sword & Saturday – hosted by The Brothers Krynn
As an author focused on literary fiction (my genre fiction is a side journey), I would like to connect with other Literary Fiction writers such as Madame Z.

What is micropatronage? See this article by
, along some other great essays.Pick and choose. And explore Substack. My list is far from complete. And I am happy to say that lots of these people don’t stoop to the fakery of AI (artificial intelligence) which should be called AP (advanced programming).
Wanna catch the eye of readers? A great way is to be bold and post in Notes links to your tomes (no matter how large or small), to your ’Stack, and even your author site!
